Ryan Hennessey is a Special Counsel in the Dispute Resolution team of Baker & McKenzie, Melbourne. For over 12 years, he has specialised in anti-bribery and corruption compliance. During this time, Ryan has assisted clients operating in Australia, the Asia Pacific region, the United States and the United Kingdom to develop, implement and refine compliance and ethics frameworks, including preparing policies and procedures, formulating internal controls and integrating compliance with broader business functions.

He has also assisted clients to respond to suspected contraventions of anti-bribery and corruption laws, including conducting investigations, responding to regulatory enquiries and remediating misconduct; to identify and mitigate compliance risks in formulating business strategy, engaging with counterparties, conducting mergers and acquisitions transactions and doing business across borders; and to build a robust culture of compliance and ethical conduct through targeted training and communication.

Prior to joining Baker & McKenzie, Ryan worked as a Supervisor in the Corporate Finance department of leading global professional services firm conducting investigations, due diligence and corporate reviews for significant Australian and multi-national clients.

Ryan is a Member of the Business Law Section of the Law Council of Australia and a founding member of the Melbourne Chapter of Transparency International (Australia). He holds a Bachelor of Business (with Distinction) and a Bachelor of Laws (with Honours).
